IPC Shopping Centre currently has 7 Dala* horse sculptures at the al-fresco area that are in need of a fresh coat of paint. So, instead of painting them in the traditional Swedish patterns, we’d like to make it more Malaysian-friendlier through an online art contest where our young artists can design and colour, free rein!
*For those who do not know what a Dala horse is, it is a symbolic wooden statue of a horse that originated from Sweden. IPC also has Swedish roots, so it too has become an integral part of our identity in the centre.
Children who are 12 years old and younger can join the nationwide art contest from 11 March to 10 April 2022. The winning designs will be replicated and memorialised onto the live-sized Dala horse sculptures for public display in IPC Shopping Centre!
Participation is free and if you want your child to participate in this art contest, start by downloading and printing the Dala horse paper template here. Then, let your child’s creativity take flight as they draw and colour their imaginative Dala horse.
We accept physical or digital submissions of original artwork by the children; 1 artwork submission per child only. You may submit the physical artwork submissions to our i-Counter on Level G or email it to ipc@ikano.asia for digital artwork submissions.
Winners are selected based on the following: creativity, originality, clarity to theme, presentation and possibility of drawings to be replicated and painted on the DALA horse sculptures.
All entries must be submitted by 10 April 2022.
Selection Process
After the contest’s closing submission deadline on 10 April 2022, we will then shortlist the top artwork submissions and bring them forward to the voting-scoring phase where the public’s votes, on top of IPC panel judges’ scores, will be taken into consideration to determine the 7 winners.
- 20% from the public’s votes through Facebook ‘Likes’.
- 80% from IPC panel judges’ scoring.
We will publish a gallery of the shortlisted artworks on our official Facebook page and the public can vote for their preferred designs – through Facebook ‘Likes’. Till then, do remember to tune in to our Facebook page for further announcements and get ready to cast your votes!
The 7 winners will be picked and announced on our official Facebook page latest by end April 2022.
